These 8 herbs will help your little one digest their food easily, without any cramps. Do you recognise them?

When it comes to children’s health, everything else usually takes a back seat. Especially when they’re still very young and you’re just trying to work out what’s troubling your little one. Very often, heart-wrenching crying is caused by digestive problems – a bloated tummy that can’t cope with all the new foods it’s still learning to digest. Anyone who’s had a baby who’s cried for hours on end knows just how awful that distress is. Yet very often, advice from experienced older neighbours – who have ‘teas for everything’ – has proved helpful.

Having experienced something similar myself, I have to say that it is quite shocking how, after months of suffering, a carefully chosen digestive tea managed to provide relief almost instantly. Nature is simply a miraculous healer, and medical science will continue to study the effects of various herbs on the human body for a long time to come. That is, if we don’t wipe them all out.

Children’s tea for happy tummies contains a blend of Tatra herbs, which have been organically grown and harvested beneath the Tatra peaks. This blend has been carefully selected specifically to soothe children’s tummies; each of the herbs either aids digestion or has an antispasmodic effect, and they are suitable even for very young children.

The main ingredient is chamomile, a plant which, due to its gentle effects, is used primarily for young children. It has a high content of essential oil, coumarin, flavonoids, bitter compounds... It has a soothing effect, possesses antiseptic properties, relieves cramps and has healing properties. We also use it in children’s cosmetics.

Another plant is common marjoram; thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it contains antioxidants that protect our bodies from free radicals. You’ll no doubt recognise it by its better-known name – oregano. Raspberry blackberry has always been used by folk healers, particularly for expectant mothers, to support proper uterine function. For children, we make use of its ability to promote healthy digestion, thanks to the high fibre content in its leaves and berries.

Thyme is one of the best-known traditional herbs, particularly for respiratory conditions and urinary tract infections. However, it is equally effective for digestive problems. That is why we are adding it to our list. The same goes for ribwort plantain, which we have always applied to open wounds to promote faster healing. It can also regulate digestion and relieve intestinal discomfort. Mallow primarily protects the mucous membranes and has a mild laxative effect.

Common fennel is the clear favourite if you don’t know of anything else and want to soothe a little baby’s tummy ache. Fennel teas, syrups and sprays. Every parent is familiar with these. In fact, it’s enough for a breastfeeding mum to drink a decoction of fennel seeds; the substances that pass into her breast milk can help relieve her baby’s colic. Lemon balm is just the icing on the cake: it has a calming effect, works on our nervous system and can even put us in a good mood.

This children’s tea, made from eight herbs gathered in the Tatra Mountains, is a must-have in any household looking after little ones, right from the earliest toddler years. It offers help on a purely natural basis, without any chemicals, relying solely on the power of Mother Nature.

The biggest mistake when taking vitamin C: Do you make it every morning too?

The biggest mistake when taking vitamin C: Do you make it every morning too?

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an absolutely essential vitamin/nutritional supplement that virtually all of us take. It is water-soluble, but our bodies cannot produce it themselves, unlike goats, for example, which produce up to 14g a day all on their own. Almost all animals and plants can do this too, but humans are reliant on obtaining it from external sources.

Is iodine a necessity? ... Iodine - Kelp

Is iodine a necessity? ... Iodine - Kelp

Iodine is a trace element, with an interesting role in health, which we associate with the thyroid gland. It occurs naturally in the marine environment and one of the richest natural sources of iodine is kelp seaweed, also known as "Bladderwrack, Norwegian Laminaria," which has been used in traditional medicine and cuisine for centuries. Kelp can absorb large amounts of iodine directly from the ocean. The body needs iodine to produce thyroid hormones, without which much more would not work ... our metabolism would not function properly, we would have little energy, and our minds would be dull.

Fascinating Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)

It is not by chance that it is referred to in various countries as the "mushroom of immortality" and the "mushroom of eternal life". In Japan, "Reishi" means "spiritual power". In China, it is known as "Lingzhi", which means "divine mushroom". It is one of the most valuable mushrooms in traditional medicine, used to treat chronic diseases and recognised for over 4,000 years for its powerful effects (similar to women) documented in ancient books. It is also called the "mushroom of happiness" for its ability to relieve ailments such as arthritis, insomnia, pressure pain, persistent weakness, high blood pressure, heart problems, dizziness, mushroom poisoning and diseases...

The sun’s shining, but you’re lacking ‘D’? Why you shouldn’t put off taking vitamin D until summer

Summer is in full swing, the temperatures outside are like a scorching oven, and as you look at that little bottle of vitamin D that has faithfully seen you through the whole winter, you say: “Right then, mate, you’re on holiday until October!” It sounds perfectly logical, after all. Vitamin D is the ‘sunshine vitamin’; there’s plenty of sunshine outside, so surely our bodies must be producing it with the greatest of ease.
