How to boost your energy with natural energisers

We live in an age where we are expected to perform at 100 per cent all the time. When fatigue sets in, most of us automatically reach for a quick fix in the form of a coffee or a can of energy drink. Although synthetic caffeine and refined sugar give us an immediate energy boost, this rapid surge is often followed by a sharp crash, which is frequently even more severe than the initial high. Nature, however, offers us more sophisticated and gentler tools that support our bodies in naturally producing and maintaining energy.

1. B vitamins

Many people do not realise that without sufficient B vitamins, the body cannot effectively process energy from food. These vitamins do not contain any calories themselves, but they act as key co-factors. They convert carbohydrates, fats and proteins into the actual ‘fuel’ used by our cells.

The B-complex as a synergistic whole

B vitamins work best as a team, which is why we most often find the so-called B-complex in dietary supplements. Each member of this group has its own role. For example, vitamin B1 focuses on the process of converting glucose into energy, whilst vitamin B5 is important for the production of stress hormones. Regularly taking B-complex supplements will boost your energy levels and keep your body running like clockwork.

Dr LUCULLUS’s B-complex contains up to 11 vitamins that support energy levels, the nervous system and mental wellbeing. The B-complex helps to support cognitive health, whilst also promoting beautiful hair and skin from within.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)

This particular vitamin is absolutely essential for the production of red blood cells and the proper functioning of the nervous system. If the body lacks B12, tissues become under-oxygenated, leading to severe fatigue, muscle weakness and ‘brain fog’. It is found almost exclusively in foods of animal origin, which is why supplementation is important for vegans and vegetarians, as well as for people under constant stress.

Dr. LUCULLUS’s B12 dietary supplement focuses on the production of red blood cells. It helps convert carbohydrates and fats into energy, whilst regulating appetite. It is an excellent aid in helping to prevent anaemia and headaches. It is a good aid for combating fatigue and improving concentration.

2. Adaptogens

The term ‘adaptogens’ refers to a group of herbs and roots that help the human body adapt to increased strain and stress. Unlike conventional stimulants, such as pure caffeine, they do not have such an ‘aggressive’ effect on the nervous system, but instead aim to maintain a balanced level of cortisol (the stress hormone) and stabilise the body’s internal balance.

Peruvian maca (Lepidium meyenii)

This ancient root from the Peruvian Andes, often referred to as ‘Peruvian ginseng’, is known for its ability to boost physical stamina and vitality. Maca is rich in amino acids, minerals and trace elements. Its appeal lies in the fact that it does not provide immediate nervous system stimulation, but has a long-term effect. It nourishes the endocrine system, supports hormonal balance and helps maintain a stable energy level throughout the day without fluctuations.

Dr LUCULLUS Maca is a helpful supplement if you are feeling low on energy or your performance is not up to its usual standard. Maca focuses on supporting stamina, hormonal balance and general well-being. It is an excellent aid for memory, concentration and the ability to learn. It has a positive effect on reproductive health and, in women, helps regulate the menstrual cycle.

3. Functional hubs

The world of medicinal and functional mushrooms is currently experiencing a huge renaissance, both in modern times and in the scientific community. Unlike stimulants, which force the body to draw on its energy reserves, functional mushrooms help to build up these reserves directly at a molecular level.

Cordyceps sinensis (Chinese caterpillar fungus)

Cordyceps is absolutely unique in the fungal kingdom. This fungus, which originally grew in the high-altitude regions of Tibet, is a valuable aid for endurance athletes. Cordyceps does not act as a stimulant of the central nervous system, but has been shown to increase the production of ATP (the universal energy currency of all living cells) and helps the body utilise oxygen more efficiently. As a result, the human body copes more effectively with physical exertion, recovers more quickly and does not experience muscle fatigue as quickly.

Cordyceps sinensis Dr. LUCULLUS is a dietary supplement that supports the proper utilisation of oxygen in cells. It is a rare species of fungus that has revitalising effects and boosts energy levels. It is also suitable for restoring normal heart function.

Following the craze sparked by energy drinks and coffee, the search for more natural sources of energy maintenance and production is an important step towards long-term health and well-being. The combination of an adaptogen such as Maca, a high-quality B-complex and medicinal mushrooms such as Cordyceps represents a sound and more sustainable approach to looking after our health and managing our energy levels. These natural dietary supplements do not deplete your body; on the contrary, they bring it into balance. They ensure proper cellular nutrition and boost your natural resilience to the daily demands of the modern world.

How to treat a cold or the flu?

How to treat a cold or the flu?

We probably all have a good supply of medicines at home in case we catch a cold, or even the flu. It’s the same every single year. The temperature drops, the weather turns damp and chilly, and the viral infections start to spread. But we’re prepared! Celaskon, various cough syrups, paracetamol… A box (or even a large box) of all sorts of medicines will sort it out, won’t it? And if not, then whilst we’re coughing, grumbling and lying in bed, we solemnly promise ourselves that we’ll finally start hardening ourselves to the cold. As soon as the illness has passed...

Iron - the secret to your health and energy

Iron - the secret to your health and energy

Imagine that your body is a factory working at full capacity (to provide energy, growth, cell repair) and iron is the fuel that keeps it running. If iron reserves are depleted, you may experience weakness, heart palpitations or paler skin. Symptoms of iron deficiency include brittle nails, dry hair, shortness of breath, sleep problems, reduced concentration, cold extremities, increased frequency of infections, and anaemia (a lack of red blood cells caused by too little iron in the body), which manifests itself as extreme fatigue. With anaemia, the body is not supplied with enough oxygen and quickly becomes exhausted. Bruising can also be a sign of iron deficiency, as this mineral is important in the formation of haemoglobin, which supports the proper functioning of blood platelets.
