Delicious Rumanovec as a remedy for stress

In traditional medicine, chamomile – or ‘Rumanovec’ – has been used as a dye for many centuries. Due to the high content of colour pigments in its flowers, it was used to dye silk. There was no more beautiful shade of yellow. Even in Slovakia, it became well known primarily for its ability to dye fabrics and everyday items. However, we are particularly interested in its medicinal properties.

In ancient Egypt, ruman was used to treat bronchitis and reduce fever. Modern chemistry identifies it as a source of essential oil, bitter principles, flavonoids, xanthophyll – a yellow pigment – coumarin, tannin, camphor, antemic acid and tyglic acid. So much for science.

What matters to us are its properties: its calming effects, anti-inflammatory properties, support for digestion and high antioxidant content. Chamomile helps to relieve nervousness, anxiety and tension. It is used to promote healthy sleep and relieve insomnia. Chamomile tea has anti-inflammatory effects. It alleviates inflammatory processes and irritation, and promotes wound healing.

The tea may have mild laxative effects, as it aids digestion and helps relieve digestive problems such as flatulence, bloating and nausea. Its antioxidants help protect the body against free radicals and oxidative stress. They have an overall beneficial effect and support the immune system. It is also used for liver and gallbladder conditions and is recommended following recovery from jaundice. Together with other medicinal herbs (such as sea buckthorn, milk thistle and dandelion) and a few other ingredients, it is used to produce Anthemis – a dietary supplement for the liver.

Chamomile is excellent for soothing the stomach when you’ve eaten too much; it aids digestion, relaxes the body, and the tea made from it has a naturally bitter taste. It has a calming effect, contains no caffeine and is therefore also suitable for drinking in the evening, before bed. You can drink it several times a day.

It helps to ease tension, has a pleasant, relaxing effect, and even just the act of preparing it sets you up for something special. It’s not just about pouring water over a tea bag from a kettle whilst scrolling through social media. After your first cup, you’ll realise that the tea gradually prepares you for a ceremony of calm, rest and relaxation. You’ll put your mobile away, switch off the telly, wait until it’s cooled to a pleasant temperature, and savour it slowly. Anyone who gets into the habit of spending their evenings in this way will be rewarded – with a gradual harmonisation of body and mind. It would be a mistake to do it any other way. That time with a cup of tea belongs solely to you and your health.

This delicious tea has a secret – it comes from an organic farm in the Tatra Mountains. High-quality herbs are carefully cultivated, harvested and then thoroughly dried according to old, tried-and-tested recipes. No stage of the processing is neglected – this is very important. Strict organic standards are adhered to during cultivation – no chemical fertilisers or pesticides are used. Thanks to this, it retains its unique aroma and flavour. At the same time, the entire farm is sustainable and environmentally friendly.

B10 ... for your younger self

Excessive hair loss, slowed hair growth or premature greying can have various causes, with diet playing a key role. Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), also known as vitamin B10 (although it is not officially a vitamin), is one of the key nutrients that support the health of the hair, skin and the body’s overall vitality. Furthermore, it may also influence the ageing process. Despite its beneficial effects, it is less well known today, although in the past it was regarded as almost a miracle cure for maintaining youthfulness. In the 1950s, scientists investigated PABA for its potential in combating degenerative diseases and recorded cases where it had slowed down the greying of hair.

B5 – the guardian of vitality and beauty

“It’s just another vitamin… or is it?” is probably what each of us thinks, but the more we learn about pantothenic acid, the more fascinated we become. Vitamin B5 plays a key role in converting food into energy; it supports concentration, mental well-being and even skin regeneration. Without it, the body would be unable to produce hormones properly or cope with stress. It is also a substance found in every cell of our body; it has been with us since birth and contributes to energy levels, skin health and mental alertness. Although we may overlook it, its importance is undeniable and its name is no coincidence. It derives from the Greek word ‘panto’, meaning ‘everywhere’. And indeed, it is ubiquitous, irreplaceable and somewhat mysterious. If we start looking into where this essential vitamin is found, we’ll find it in eggs, nuts, wholegrains, shellfish, avocado, salmon, liver, kidneys, beef, yeast and vegetables… And if we’ve just realised that our diet is lacking in these foods, we should consider taking a B5 supplement. Within just a few days, we’d start to notice a difference. We’d wake up with more energy, our minds would be clearer, and we’d even see an improvement in our skin. Our colleagues wouldn’t fail to notice that we’re working faster, are more creative and less stressed. Pantothenic acid will help us get back into shape. And for us, it will no longer be just another substance on the list of vitamins.

The term ‘vitamin B6’ is used to refer to three derivatives: pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine. Whichever of these you consume, the active form of this vitamin is pyridoxal-5-phosphate. It is an important cofactor for enzymes. All three forms of vitamin B6 are found in the normal diet and are absorbed directly in the gut. It plays a key role in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It is involved in more than 100 enzymatic reactions.
