Discover the power of tea for a restful night’s sleep

You know how it is – we don’t always manage to simply ‘switch off’ and fall asleep. A gentle sip of herbal tea, which soothes both mind and body, offers relief, transforming restlessness into balance and tension into calm. When our thoughts quieten in the evening and we settle into the comfort of our own home, it’s the perfect time for a moment to ourselves – a time that promotes deep, undisturbed sleep.

Dr Lucullus’s range includes an organic tea – Peaceful Sleep – a harmonious blend of herbs from the pristine environment of the High Tatras, which naturally aids relaxation, relieves tension and balances the nervous system. You’ll be impressed not only by its unique composition, but also by its scientifically proven effects, which help prevent insomnia and support your natural sleep cycle. Each of the herbs used acts on a different level – some on the mind, others to relax the muscles. Their combination creates a balanced symphony of flavours and effects, bringing inner peace and a harmonious end to the day.

Lemon balm – Melissa officinalis = the herb of a peaceful evening, bringing calm and relaxation after a busy day. It alleviates anxiety, tension and restlessness of the mind, thereby helping you fall asleep more quickly and sleep more peacefully (thanks to citral and citronellal). At the same time, it has a beneficial effect on digestion, which is often sensitive to stress. Lemon balm increases the activity of GABA receptors in the brain, thereby naturally calming the nervous system. It also protects all the body’s organs that are harmed by stress. Common marjoramOriganum vulgare its warming aroma helps you to ‘slow down’ and relax. It contains carvacrol and thymol, substances with antioxidant and spasmolytic effects that relax smooth muscle and alleviate internal tension in the body. It is interesting to note that in traditional herbal medicine, it is used to treat stress manifested as cramps or chest tightness.Peppermint Mentha piperita brings a sense of freshness and lightness, whilst soothing the digestive system and reducing tension in the abdominal area. It also helps with stress-induced headaches. It invigorates and improves physical fitness.

It is the essential oils of mint that have a spasmolytic effect – they relax the smooth muscles of the digestive tract (menthol and menthone), which contributes to a general sense of well-being.

St John’s WortHypericum perforatum = balances mood (hypericin), promotes mental balance, which is essential for deep sleep. It helps with fatigue, tension and irritability, which often prevent you from falling asleep (hyperforin). It alleviates depressive states, anxiety, neuroses and insomnia. Chamomile – Matricaria chamomilla = soothes both body and mind, provides a sense of inner calm, relieves digestive irritation and has a calming effect. Its delicate flavour in tea adds character and promotes relaxation before sleep. Studies confirm that drinking chamomile tea regularly can improve the quality of sleep, even in older people.Narrow-leaved lavenderLavandula angustifolia = it is the delicate essential oils that induce a sense of calm and relaxation, alleviating anxiety and agitation (linalool, linalyl acetate), and help you fall asleep naturally. Lavender aromatherapy and extracts have been shown to improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety.

Choose the right preparation

Pour 250 ml of hot, but not boiling, water over 1 teaspoon (2–3 g) of the herbal mixture. Leave to infuse, covered, for 5–7 minutes, then strain. It is recommended to drink this in the afternoon and in the evening, about 30 minutes before going to bed. For a stronger effect, use 1½ teaspoons and add lemon or honey to taste.

Including a cup of tea made from the pure herbal blend ‘Peaceful Sleep’ in your daily routine will help you achieve harmony between body and mind in the evening. Research has confirmed that the active ingredients promote relaxation and improve the quality of sleep.

Treat yourself to a moment of silence in the evening, let the tension melt away, and let each day end with a return to balance, relief, inner peace and true rest in the form of a good night’s sleep.

Burnout syndrome or just a tired brain? How stress depletes our reserves of the ‘happiness hormone’

Do you wake up feeling weighed down even before you’ve opened your laptop? Morning anxiety, irritability at routine emails and a loss of motivation for projects you used to enjoy... Does this sound familiar? Many successful people, managers and entrepreneurs automatically attribute these feelings to impending burnout. However, they often fail to realise that their nervous system has simply been running ‘on credit’ for a long time, and that the problem may have a clear biochemical basis. It isn’t always just a psychological issue. Often, it’s simply a lack of fuel for your brain.

Why should chamomile be a staple in every household?

It is unassuming, often growing along country lanes, in meadows or in gardens, yet it harbours immense power. Chamomile, or ‘kamilka’ as it’s commonly known, is one of the best-known and most widely used medicinal herbs in the world. You may remember it from your childhood, when your grandmother used to make you tea from it for a tummy ache, but this little plant can do much more than that.

This natural supplement contains a lesser-known plant called wild yam (Discorea villosa) from the Dioscoreaceae family. Let's get to know it ☺ There are more than 600 species of yam plants, the most prominent being wild yam (Dioscorea villosa). This hardy liana (vine) of equatorial regions has heart-shaped leaves. The leaves and roots contain diosgenin (the primary component), and it is the root that is used in medicine and in our supplements as a concentrated extract (highest yield), with a structure similar to cholesterol. This substance was used to produce the first contraceptive bases.

Feminine balance important for every woman

Feminine balance important for every woman

We can probably agree that the female body and its hormonal balance is more complicated than the male body. A woman's monthly female cycle, among other things, has a significant impact on her. It is therefore much more important to monitor all the necessary substances and hormones if a woman wants to live a balanced, happy life, both health-wise and mentally.

How can you beat insomnia? Discover the power of the amino acid L-tryptophan and B vitamins

Many of us know that feeling when we wake up in the night, start thinking about something completely trivial – and suddenly can’t get back to sleep. No matter what we do – even if we count a whole flock of sheep – it takes at least an hour before we drift off again. Perhaps even worse is not being able to fall asleep at all! We toss and turn, trying to banish even the most innocent thought, but sleep just won’t come. Of course, there are sleeping tablets – but let’s face it – this has nothing to do with a healthy lifestyle. And anyone who claims that alcohol helps is in a similar boat. There’s even a risk of developing a dangerous addiction here!
