A superfood we often overlook. Have you heard of aronia?

Exhaustion and chronic fatigue have been frequently discussed topics in recent months. Some blame it on stress at work, others on an unhealthy lifestyle and poor-quality food, and others on vaccination... Whatever the truth may be, it is time to take matters into our own hands and deal with the situation. A weakened body is highly susceptible to various illnesses and health issues. That is why we need to give it a boost of optimism and, above all, vital energy.

How does a plant with the strange name ‘black chokeberry’ fit into this? Does that name mean nothing to you? And yet almost everyone knows it, and you’ve certainly seen it in the wild. But we tend to know it by another name: black chokeberry. Small black berries, resembling blueberries, grow on bushes in the wild, where the black berries ripen during September, whilst the leaves turn a shade of orange to deep red.

Our grandmothers knew it very well; they often used its berries to make various syrups, liqueurs and jams. Its black berries can also be preserved. And why all this effort? Aronia is, in fact, classified as a ‘superfood’. It contains an exceptionally high amount of antioxidants, which protect the body against so-called oxidative stress. It is also known as the ‘queen of antioxidants’. It contains, in particular, polyphenols and anthocyanins. These are capable of protecting cells.

It is also a source of vitamins, minerals and fibre. It is a low-calorie food and is therefore often used in various diets. It originates from North America, where its fruits were dried and used to make various teas, or simply added to food. The plant itself is very hardy, grows in a variety of soils and can withstand even freezing winters.

It’s almost unbelievable just how many nutrients its fruit contains: vitamins A, C and K, iron, manganese, calcium, potassium, magnesium and fibre. Powerful natural antioxidants: polyphenols and anthocyanins, which neutralise free radicals in the body, thereby protecting cells from damage and slowing down the ageing process. Fibre not only aids proper digestion and bowel movements, thereby maintaining healthy gut flora, but also lowers the glycaemic index of food, helping to regulate blood sugar levels.

It really is a superfood that can help lower blood pressure, slow down the ageing process, boost overall vitality and immunity, and support the proper functioning of the heart and digestive tract. Regular consumption of aronia berries helps protect cells, helps prevent urinary tract infections and, when combined with a varied diet, supports long-term health and immunity.

Aronia has a slightly tart flavour, making it an excellent addition to a variety of dishes. You can use it to make tea, add it to yoghurt, smoothies, various porridges… It’s ideal as a quick snack free from sugar and preservatives. Thanks to its amazing superfood properties, it can be consumed sensibly on a daily basis, helping your body regain a healthy balance of body and mind. No stress, no fatigue.

Alchemists tried to make gold from various metals, but also to discover ordinary things. One of the secret ingredients in the production of gold was water captured in the leaves of this plant. As far as we know, it didn't help...

MSM (Organosulfur) .... multifunctional supplement

MSM (Organosulfur) .... multifunctional supplement

Did you know that sulphur is just as essential for our bodies as vitamins and minerals? One of its most important sources is a substance called methylsulfonylmethane, or MSM for short. Although the name sounds like something out of a chemistry textbook, it is a natural substance that is essential for the proper functioning of the body. MSM occurs naturally in the blood, tissues and organs, where it supports substances such as the amino acids glutathione, cysteine and methionine. This organic sulphur compound, also known as organosulphur, is extremely effective in combating oxidative stress and inflammation and in regenerating the body. It can be sourced from natural foods. Organosulphur compounds, such as allicin in garlic, have a wide range of health benefits, and MSM is unique in that it offers comprehensive support from joint health to immunity boosting.

It is essential for the production of haemoglobin – the blood pigment that transports oxygen and CO₂ from the lungs to the organs and back.

Zinc - the killer of fatigue

Zinc - the killer of fatigue

In addition to supplements, functioning and various supplements, our body needs to 100% and the so-called trace substances. The designation "trace" means that our body needs it only in small amounts. We need 10mg of zinc per day, which is 37 times smaller compared to magnesium (375mg). It would seem that we are talking about a complete uselessness. However, the opposite is true. Zinc affects over 200 biochemical reactions in our body!

Not all magnesium is the same

Not all magnesium is the same

Magnesium is a miracle mineral. It improves sleep, relaxes muscles, reduces stress and helps produce energy. The problem arises when you realise that it comes in several forms – citrate, oxide, malate and bisglycinate. Which one should you choose? If you pick the wrong one, not only will it not help you, but it may cause unpleasant diarrhoea or, conversely, keep you awake at night.

High-quality mountain tea to combat stress and a weak immune system

Drinking high-quality tea is slowly becoming a new trend. Following the emergence of coffee culture here – where perhaps only a joker would now order a ‘Turkish coffee in a glass’ in a café – there has also been a shift away from the traditional habit of drinking beer. It has gradually been replaced by wine, and it is now common for people to distinguish between dozens of different flavours, rather than the traditional division into white and red. As people travel more and more and get to know the world, they are also increasingly discovering the phenomenon of tea drinking.
