There are days when even women need to find a balance ...

This natural supplement contains a lesser-known plant called wild yam (Discorea villosa) from the Dioscoreaceae family. Let's get to know itThere are more than 600 species of yam plants, the most prominent being wild yam (Dioscorea villosa). This hardy liana (vine) of equatorial regions has heart-shaped leaves. The leaves and roots contain diosgenin (the primary component), and it is the root that is used in medicine and in our supplements as a concentrated extract (highest yield), with a structure similar to cholesterol. This substance was used to produce the first contraceptive bases.

The roots are dug up in winter, the fine roots are sorted, washed and left to dry naturally (in the sun).  Extracts from the root are used to treat various ailments, to promote overall health in both women and men, and for their powerful antispasmodic (relaxing), anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties.

Diosgenin helps the body produce DeHydroEpiAndrosterone (DHEA), the hormone of youth, which is produced by the adrenal glands. Its levels decline with age and need to be replenished. It has anti-ageing effects and promotes the growth of new skin cells. This steroidal glycoside has anti-inflammatory effects and higher doses relieve pain. In addition to diosgenin, discorea also contains dioscin (helps with inflammation of the urinary system, protects the liver, heart and kidneys), phytosterols (cholesterol pressure, regulates blood pressure), amino acids (ensure health and a feeling of happiness, better blood circulation). Other beneficial substances include alkaloids, tryptophan and starch.

The oestrogenic properties of this plant prevent osteoporosis, which is why it is referred to as the "anti-rheumatic root" in Chinese medicine. It is generally considered a "life-giver", improving feelings of vitality and energy (thanks to phytoestrogens). As a botanical dietary supplement, it is traditionally used to treat stomach upset, pain, joint inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used to treat pain associated with menopause, whereit helps manage menopausal symptoms such as restlessness and sensitivity, and also relieves pain and discomfort associated with premenstrual syndrome.  The plant is also rich in minerals: necessary, chromium, copper and iron, and vitamin C is also found here. The capsules contain disodium salt pyroloquinoline quinone PQQ, which is essential for cell function. It supports the production of cellular energy, which is used by muscles. At the same time, it protects cells from oxidative stress as an effective antioxidant. It provides energy, affects brain activity and improves it.

When we talk about plants that have shaped modern medicine, few have left such a significant mark as the wild yam (Dioscorea villosa). Its true value lies in the molecules that literally ushered in the era of modern endocrinology and synthetic hormones.

4 benefits of choline for liver health

The liver in the human body works tirelessly 24 hours a day, cleansing the blood of toxins, metabolising medicines and processing fats from food. However, for this complex mechanism to function flawlessly, it needs the right building blocks. One of the absolutely most important of these is choline. Although the body can produce small amounts of it itself, without sufficient intake from the diet we run the risk of fatty liver and inflammation. Let’s take a look at exactly how choline protects the liver and why it should be a part of your daily routine.

Choline and Inositol - two words you probably haven't heard before. In terms of supplements, however, these are important B-group nutritional supplements, which are actually vitamins. These substances are very similar to vitamins and support liver function and lipid metabolism, i.e. fat metabolism. Choline is a water-soluble vitamin. It is found in lecithin, which is common in many plant and animal tissues. Choline is a precursor to the neurotransmitter (i.e. transmitter) acetylcholine, which is involved in many memory and muscle functions.

Feminine balance important for every woman

Feminine balance important for every woman

We can probably agree that the female body and its hormonal balance is more complicated than the male body. A woman's monthly female cycle, among other things, has a significant impact on her. It is therefore much more important to monitor all the necessary substances and hormones if a woman wants to live a balanced, happy life, both health-wise and mentally.

Leave your stress behind. The power of nature works better than chemicals

Everyone really got on your nerves; the journey home was like something out of the apocalypse, and at home, instead of peace and quiet, there was more tension and stress. This is what some of our days are like. There are many solutions, but only a few are the right ones in the long run. Because alcohol really does help to calm your nerves and see things from a completely different perspective – though sometimes from a diabolical one, not a positive one. Soft drugs and medication can help you switch off, but they don’t address the root of your problem.

Why should chamomile be a staple in every household?

Why should chamomile be a staple in every household?

It is unassuming, often growing along country lanes, in meadows or in gardens, yet it harbours immense power. Chamomile, or ‘kamilka’ as it’s commonly known, is one of the best-known and most widely used medicinal herbs in the world. You may remember it from your childhood, when your grandmother used to make you tea from it for a tummy ache, but this little plant can do much more than that.

It can lift your spirits, calm you down and relieve stress – all without any side effects, unlike tablets.  Quite simply, the human body and its various interactions with different substances vary so much from person to person that we will have to wait a while longer for precise and clear facts...
