Is Collagen only for old people?

Collagen is essentially a protein that the human body can produce itself, as it is essential for the proper functioning of cartilage, glands, joints, bones, muscles and skin. It is the most abundant substance in our body (up to 3%). Unless you are on social media, you really need to depend on it until you suddenly start to feel pain in your tendons, knees, ligaments... If you have a proper, balanced diet and get enough exercise, your body will produce very little of it. But...

With each lifetime, up to 1% of most of it is lost from the human body, and the older we get, the more years we can make it in our bodies. So with today's way of eating and sitting behind various monitors, it can start to get serious for us as early as our 30s. The other extreme is athletes who can destroy their ligaments and joints after just a few years of activity. That's why it's so popular today and there are a number of products that offer you different forms. It is difficult to choose.

What you need to know is that you can only use it properly in your body if you have enough vitamin C. Not only does it contribute to its production, but it is also essential for its utilisation in the human body. This is also supported by alpha and polyhydroxy acids (e.g. hyaluronic acid). Given today's lifestyle and especially the food we eat, taking it as a dietary supplement is a sensible decision. It is clear that nowadays, when you are exposed to advertisements for medicines, vitamins and dietary supplements 24 hours a day, it is natural to start taking extra tablets. But it is good to be aware of these facts when you need to help your body recover from poor lifestyle choices, a sports injury or simply old age...

An interesting part of today's story is influenced by ageing and skin damage. Back in 2013, a study was conducted on 69 women aged 35-55. They were divided into three groups and given different doses (2.5 grams and 5 grams, the third group received a placebo) over a period of 8 weeks. The results were visible after the first 4 weeks, but at the end of the experiment, they had rather heavier, more elastic skin (7%). The device used to measure skin elasticity is called a Cutometer. Further research was conducted years later in 2015, which again confirmed that supplementation (use) resulted in the first type (these different types resulted in a reduction of 27) and managed to increase the number of targets in the target (twice) detected, measurable.

And that's how the whole hype around collagen as we know it today came about. Collagen is everywhere and there is no social media (Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok...) where you won't come across various forms of collagen. You need to consider whether you'll believe an influencer who promotes collagen on Monday, dog food on Tuesday and a pill to miraculously cure hangovers on Friday. Or do you go and buy a supplement somewhere that is really professional, without sensational slogans ("I've been rejuvenated in 14 days", "my knees don't hurt after the third dose")...

It's up to you. Consider whether you necessarily need collagen as a supplement at all if you are only 16 years old. It's certainly a great supplement, unfortunately in today's modern age few people make enough of it naturally. For the rest of us, there are reputable sellers.

B10 ... for your younger self

Excessive hair loss, slowed hair growth or premature greying can have various causes, with diet playing a key role. Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), also known as vitamin B10 (although it is not officially a vitamin), is one of the key nutrients that support the health of the hair, skin and the body’s overall vitality. Furthermore, it may also influence the ageing process. Despite its beneficial effects, it is less well known today, although in the past it was regarded as almost a miracle cure for maintaining youthfulness. In the 1950s, scientists investigated PABA for its potential in combating degenerative diseases and recorded cases where it had slowed down the greying of hair.

Fascinating Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)

It is not by chance that it is referred to in various countries as the "mushroom of immortality" and the "mushroom of eternal life". In Japan, "Reishi" means "spiritual power". In China, it is known as "Lingzhi", which means "divine mushroom". It is one of the most valuable mushrooms in traditional medicine, used to treat chronic diseases and recognised for over 4,000 years for its powerful effects (similar to women) documented in ancient books. It is also called the "mushroom of happiness" for its ability to relieve ailments such as arthritis, insomnia, pressure pain, persistent weakness, high blood pressure, heart problems, dizziness, mushroom poisoning and diseases...

The First of Vitamins - B1

The First of Vitamins - B1

Maybe it's burnout ... that's the current description of the state when we feel different. When the coffee we loved no longer works and in the afternoon we are overwhelmed by unbearable fatigue, when in the evening we have no strength for anything, neither for sports nor for friends. And certainly not for another day at work. A nutritionist would describe this state with further findings of our diet with the words - „ You have a lack of thiamine (B1), which is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system and the conversion of food into energy. Your diet is full of processed carbohydrates, but almost without B1. And when the body doesn't have enough thiamine, you can feel fatigue, forgetfulness, irritability, and even anxiety. And caffeine? It depletes thiamine in the body even more!“ We certainly wouldn't think that this state could be caused by a “triviality”. After all, many of us don't register thiamine, I admit it was also my case. This first of the discovered vitamins in 1912 was named by the Polish biochemist Funk with the term vita (necessary for life), amine (substances that contain nitrogen). Since then, it has gained more names, like aneurin, and for 25 years we have called it thiamine. It is essential, meaning it cannot be synthesized and must come from the diet. It sounds almost frightening that without it we wouldn't survive longer than a few days, at most weeks. This is because the body cannot store it for long and it is necessary to ensure its intake regularly, as it is irreplaceable for the proper functioning of the organism. On the contrary, its abundance helps improve concentration and memory.

Iron - the cure for youth

Iron - the cure for youth

If you like the muscular Arnold Swarzenegger, you must have seen the documentary Pumping Iron about his complex transformation from a skinny teenager to an absolute physical Olymp. His musculature is still admirable to this day. And he was helped to do it by a simple iron. Of course - this is a joke, he mainly lifted on iron. But to make his muscles look like those of Hercules, he needed iron in a completely different form.

Common Lady's Mantle ... from the past to the present ...

Common Lady's Mantle ... from the past to the present ...

originates from the Latin word " Alchemilla " related to alchemy. Alchemists believed in the miraculous power of water droplets on its leaves "heavenly water," (symbolized purity and nature's mystery), which were supposed to help them achieve eternal youth or transform a common metal into gold. They paid great attention to lady's mantle, which led not only to its naming but mainly to the discovery of its medicinal effects. The present relies on proven health benefits this medicinal plant offers.
