Reishi - the mushroom of immortality

Reishi, a mushroom used for over 4000 years. The divine mushroom of immortality - in the past, it was believed to revive even the dead. It holds its significant place especially in Chinese medicine (under the name lingzhi), where it was mentioned in writing as early as 200 BC. Entire armies were designated to search for it, as the Chinese imperial court believed it could be used to concoct the elixir of immortality. The Slovak name might not tell you much - Leskokôrka brown-red, is actually a wood-decaying parasitic mushroom, living mostly on injured trees. It has a vast spectrum of biologically active substances. Its effects are also described in the professional encyclopedia Mushrooms as medicine

Reishi contains more than 200 polysaccharides, 150 triterpenes, and numerous amino acids such as alanine, leucine, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid. According to scientists, its two main health-benefiting ingredients are beta-glucans and triterpenes. The former is water-soluble and forms complex molecules - polysaccharide peptides - when combined with proteins. Triterpenes are water-insoluble and require fat or alcohol to dissolve. Reishi contains three times more germanium than garlic and eight times more than ginseng.

The main strength of Reishi is its positive effect on immunity and stress reduction. It removes and reduces inflammation in the body. It helps detoxify the body from toxins. The demand for it is so immense that for a long time, methods were sought to artificially cultivate it, so it's accessible not only to elites but also to common people. In 1970, the Japanese achieved this. It is grown either in plastic bags on sawdust or on pieces of hard (oak) wood. It's harvested once every 6-9 months.

There are many different forms and products on the market that contain Reishi. Although it might seem that the most natural form is powder from dried, ground mushroom - this is not ideal because it contains few polysaccharides. A much better option is powdered extract from fruiting bodies (not from mycelium). Reishi can be purchased as powder (ground, dried mushroom), as a tincture with alcohol, or as extract in bio capsules - which is the best option.

Regarding medical studies, they confirm a positive effect on the production of white blood cells, increasing the number of T-cells and B-cells to strengthen cellular immunity and enhance vitality in treating oncological diseases. Reishi supports the production of NK cells that cleanse the body of tumor cells. It reduces the negative impacts of oncological radiotherapy. The terpene content in Reishi also aids with anti-inflammatory effects. The use of Reishi can favorably influence blood pressure, help protect and regenerate liver cells. Together with Cordyceps, it is the most used mushroom for chronic fatigue conditions. It helps people get back in shape, especially after postoperative conditions.

It seems almost a miraculous product. But as with everything - it's something humanity has known literally for millennia, it's just modern medicine that is coming up with scientific explanations for what people have observed themselves over centuries of living in nature.

Reishi - Ganoderma lucidum is a product that can also be used as a dietary supplement, ideally twice a day before meals. You can either directly take the capsules or sprinkle their contents into water or food. Reishi is also suitable for long-term use.

Zinc - The Fatigue Slayer

Zinc - The Fatigue Slayer

In addition to vitamins, enzymes, and various supplements, our body also needs so-called trace elements for 100% functionality. The term "trace" means that our body needs it only in small quantities. We need 10 mg of zinc daily, which is 37 times less than magnesium (375 mg). It might seem we're discussing a total non-entity. However, the opposite is true. Zinc affects more than 200 biochemical reactions in our body!

Why exactly collagen + C + hyaluronic acid? In short, it is an elixir of youth, this precisely characterizes the combination of 3 powerful antioxidants. By interconnecting the components, health support is increased, not just for the skin (as it may seem). Already in youth, the amount of collagen and hyaluronic acid decreases. With this trio, we safely help to replenish them and achieve healthy skin, bones, joints, veins, strong hair, and nails. Vitamin C is necessary for the biosynthesis of collagen (also for protein metabolism) and its effective usability. Let's break it down, because it literally applies here that everything is related...

B10 ... for your younger self

B10 ... for your younger self

Excessive hair loss, slowed growth, or premature graying can have various causes, with diet playing a major role. Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), also known as vitamin B10 (although it is not officially a vitamin), is among the significant nutrients that support hair health, skin, and overall vitality of the body. Additionally, it can influence the aging process. Despite its beneficial effects, it is less known today, although in the past it was considered almost a miraculous means of maintaining youth. In the 1950s, scientists studied PABA for its potential in combating degenerative diseases and recorded cases where graying was slowed down.

Is Collagen Only for Older People?

Is Collagen Only for Older People?

Collagen is essentially a protein that the human body can produce by itself, as it is necessary for the proper functioning of cartilage, glands, joints, and even bones, muscles, and skin. Out of all the proteins in our body, collagen is the most abundant (up to 30%). Unless you are addicted to social media, you really don't need collagen until you suddenly start feeling pain in your tendons, knees, ligaments... Because if you have a proper, balanced diet, and enough exercise, your body should produce enough. However...

Do we need the 'sunshine' vitamin D3 only in winter?

Do we need the 'sunshine' vitamin D3 only in winter?

When you feel the sun's rays on your skin, know that your body is creating one of the most important vitamins - D3, which was discovered thanks to centuries of research. The discovery of vitamin D3 became one of the most significant medical achievements of the 20th century, saving millions of lives: It was the year 1650 and in the streets of London, doctors noticed that more and more children were suffering from a strange disease called rickets (their bones were weak and brittle, legs deformed, growth slowed). It wasn't until 1919 that Dr. Huldschinsky exposed children with rickets to ultraviolet light and their bones began to heal! Three years later, biochemist McCollum discovered a substance that prevented rickets and called it vitamin D. Gradually, the existence of the most important form of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) was discovered.

Choline and Inositol

Choline and Inositol

Choline and Inositol - two words you probably haven't heard before. In the world of dietary supplements, however, they are an important combination of B vitamins, which are actually not vitamins. They are substances very similar to vitamins which support liver function and lipid metabolism - that is, fat metabolism. Choline is a water-soluble vitamin analogue. It is found in lecithin, which is common in many plant and animal tissues. Choline is a precursor for the neurotransmitter (i.e., carrier) acetylcholine - which is involved in many memory and muscle functions.
